OLR is a weekly roundtable that features reading and discussion of literature. This includes fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and visiting writers, and is open to staff, patients, and the public. Readings can be picked up a week in advance at the information desks at Duke Hospitals and Clinics.

The Nancy Weaver Emerson Endowed Lectureship in Medical Ethics was established in 1997 to honor Nancy Weaver Emerson, a breast cancer survivor who offers hope, encouragement, and a shining example of how to find the "can" in cancer. The endowment brings nationally known speakers to Duke University to address important ethical issues in medicine.
